The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) provides audio and MIDI functionality to the Linux operating system. This is the ALSA library (libasound) which is used by audio applications. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) provides audio and MIDI functionality to the Linux operating system. OSS (Open Sound System) is an older sound system for Linux that ALSA is replacing. Using the aoss wrapper you can use programs that only support OSS with ALSA without having to load the OSS compatibility kernel modules. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

alsactl               (manage sound card settings)
arecord/aplay  (capture and play audio)
amixer              (adjust mixer settings from the command line)
alsamixer        (an ncurses-based console mixer)
rc.alsa               (sets your volume at 77% instead of the default of "muted" - Thanks to Dagmar)

g-wrap-1.3.4
G-Wrap is a tool (and Guile library) for generating function wrappers for inter-language calls. This package also contains the slib directory, the slibcat slib catalog file. REQUIRED for GnuCash. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

NOTE: After you install both g-wrap and gnucash you MUST start gnucash from a terminal as root first!

Also seems that every time we upgrade the goffice package you will have to re-install gnucash as it uses it's own version of goffice. (Am I the only one that thinks this makes absolutely NO SENSE?)

Genology:

gramps-2.0.11
GRAMPS is a genealogical application, the name being an acronym for Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System. The ReportLab Open Source PDF library is an industry-strength PDF generating solution. NOTE: GRAMPS does not require reportlab but it is used as a plugin to generate PDF documents. Here is the md5sum for this package.

GLabels is a program for creating labels and business cards for the GNOME desktop environment. It is designed to work with various laser/ink-jet peel-off label and business card sheets that you'll find at most office supply stores. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

easytag-1.99.12 -- UPDATED PACKAGE! (Just a rebuild for DLG-2.16.1)
EasyTAG is a utility for viewing and editing tags for MP3, MP2, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack and Monkey's Audio files. Its simple and nice GTK+ interface makes tagging easier under GNU/Linux. Here is the md5sum for this package. NOTE: Unless I'm mistaken this package was dropped from DLG 2.16.x so I thought I'd provide it for those that wanted it.

gDesklets-Eye Candy for the GNOME Desktop - provides an advanced architecture for desktop applets -- tiny displays sitting on your desktop in a symbiotic relationship of eye candy and usefulness. Here is the md5sum for this package.

Istanbul is a desktop session recorder for the Free Desktop. It records your session into an Ogg Theora video file. To start the recording, you click on its icon in the notification area. To stop, you click its icon again. It works on Gnome, KDE, XFCE and others. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package. This packages REQUIRES gst-python.

thoggen-0.4.1
Thoggen is a DVD backup utility for Linux, based on GStreamer and Gtk+. Thoggen is designed to be easy and straight-forward to use. It attempts to hide the complexity many other transcoding tools expose and tries to offer sensible defaults that work okay for most people most of the time. NOTE: Still in very early development stages. Works well but it's a little slow. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

Networking:

BitTorrent-5.0.0 -- NEW PACKAGE!
BitTorrent (Network file transfer tool) is a protocol for distributing files. It identifies content by URL and is designed to integrate seamlessly with the web. Its advantage over plain HTTP is that when multiple downloads of the same file happen concurrently, the downloaders upload to each other, making it possible for the file source to support very large numbers of downloaders with only a modest increase in its load. Here is the link to the md5sum of this package. Added the .desktop file for easy access via the Applications --> Internet menu.

pycrypto-2.0.1 -- NEW PACKAGE!
The PyCrypto Toolkit is a collection of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, implemented for use from Python. Here is the link to the md5sum of this package.

NOTE: There are some new dependencies for BitTorrent. PyCrypto is one as well as wxPython and wxGTK. I have supplied the PyCrypto package and you can download the other two from LinuxPackages.

Partitioning:

parted-1.7.0
GNU Parted is a program for creating, destroying, resizing,checking and copying partitions, and the file systems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, copying data between hard disks and disk imaging. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package.

gparted-0.2.5
The GNOME Partition Editor uses libparted (parted-1.6.25.1 below) to detect and manipulate devices and partition tables while several (optional) file system tools provide support for file systems not included in libparted. Anjuta is a versatile Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for C and C++ on GNU/Linux. It has been written for GTK/GNOME and features a number of advanced programming facilities. These include project management, application wizards, an on-board interactive debugger, and a powerful source editor with source browsing and syntax highlighting. Hewlett Packard Linux Imaging and Printing project This package provides a unified single and multi-function connectivity solution for Linux. The goal of this project is to provide very simple printing, faxing, scanning, photo-card access, and device management to end users. HPLIP is comprised of several major component: applications, driver, backed, daemons, and PPD files. HPLIP works with the CUPS system. Here is a link to the md5sum for this package. Utilities:
apcupsd-3.12.3
APC UPS Daemon (apcupsd) can be used for power mangement and controlling most of APC's UPS models on Unix and Windows machines. Apcupsd works with most of APC's Smart-UPS models as well as most simple signalling models such a Back-UPS, and BackUPS-Office. During a power failure, apcupsd will inform the users about the power failure and that a shutdown may occur. If power is not restored, a system shutdown will follow when the battery is exhausted, a timeout (seconds) expires, or runtime expires based on internal APC calculations determined by power consumption rates. Firestarter is a GTK+/GNOME front end to the various firewall subsystems available in the Linux kernel, for example Netfilter.
